Captain Took a Blade, Still Opened the Door: Flydubai Jet Saved
This one came straight Through the Wire. On flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv, the co-pilot stabbed the captain and sent the jet droppin' almost 14,000 feet in under 30 seconds, Israeli officials say. Captain Smit Machchhar, an Indian national, was bleedin' on the floor but still hit the cockpit door release, so passengers and crew could rush in and pin the attacker down. Two backup flydubai pilots on board landed it safe in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Motive's still under investigation, and flydubai says don't jump to conclusions.

Uncle Sam Sends 2,000 Marines While a Supertanker Catches Fire in Hormuz
The Iran war ain't coolin' off. A US official told Al Jazeera three carriers and two landing groups are rollin' toward Iran; the Roosevelt strike group and the Makin Island crew with 2,000 Marines already left San Diego, and the full buildup is supposed to be locked in by November. Meanwhile UK Maritime Trade Operations says a 2.5-million-barrel supertanker got hit by an unknown projectile in the Strait of Hormuz and caught fire. Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian says Tehran "has never avoided" talks with the US. Flashing lights all over the Gulf, no peace deal yet.

Putin on Kaliningrad: Can't Tell Me Nothin', Every Weapon's on the Table
At the Valdai forum in Moscow, Vladimir Putin said Russia would use every weapon it got, nukes included, if its Baltic exclave Kaliningrad gets directly attacked or blockaded. He claimed Russia is "not threatening anyone" and is just answerin' Western leaders who say Moscow could be ready for war around 2029 or 2030. NATO pushed back that its drills threaten nobody and that kind of talk is not helpful. Pure Power-move energy, and the whole neighborhood is on edge.

Homecoming: Last US Troops Bounce Out of Iraq After 12 Years
That's a wrap on the anti-ISIS mission. The US military says its last troops and gear left the air base in Irbil, in Iraq's Kurdish region, endin' a 12-year campaign under a deal with Baghdad. Iraqi PM Ali al-Zaidi ran the handover ceremony and called it a new phase defined by Iraq's sovereignty. But Kurdish officials are side-eyein' it, worried about security gaps now that US air defense systems are gone after more than 1,000 drone and missile attacks on their region during the US-Iran fighting.

Drones Hit a Kyiv School and the Main Bridge: Capital Can't Catch a Break
Another rough day on the block for Kyiv. Officials say a Russian drone smashed into a school, and two more hit a key bridge linkin' east and west Kyiv, shuttin' down the metro and ground transport. Ukraine's nuclear watchdog says a drone also hit the grounds of a nuclear research facility and started a fire, though the test reactor wasn't damaged. Ukraine's air force counted 3,177 Russian drone attacks in September through the 29th, up from 2,850 in August, and the UK just dropped 31 new sanctions on Russia.

Google Cooked Up Gemini 4 Argon, But You Can't Touch It Yet
Google finally dropped its most powerful AI model, Gemini 4 Argon, but only to a vetted squad of cybersecurity experts, 'cause it's worried hackers could misuse it. The company is also givin' the US government early access and collectin' feedback before any wide release. It's the same play as Anthropic, which keeps its top model, Claude Mythos Preview, locked to a few trusted orgs. That's Power, but on a waitlist.

Touch the Sky: Google Shoots AI Chips Into Orbit
Google's Project Suncatcher just put a fridge-sized prototype satellite in space on a SpaceX rocket, built with satellite company Planet. It's packin' four of Google's TPU chips, which will run a version of the open Gemma model for 15 minutes at a time because of heat limits. The big dream is solar-powered AI data centers floatin' in clusters and talkin' to each other by laser, with two more satellites planned for next year. Graduation-level ambition, no cap.

Nvidia Built a Love Lockdown for Rogue AI Agents
Nvidia rolled out its Open Agent Safety Platform, built with about 100 industry partners to keep AI agents from goin' off script. It pairs OpenShell, an open-source runtime that sandboxes agents with kernel-level isolation, with Sentry, a watchdog design on BlueField-4 DPUs that enforces the rules right at the silicon. If an agent tries to slide past its boundaries, Nvidia says Sentry can quarantine it in milliseconds. Bots gotta stay on the block.
